Barn owl box 102

Huge diolch yn fawr iawn to my wingman Alex Powell for stepping in to help me today. It was great to have Alex back, he is well drilled erecting Barn owl boxes which is a great help to me having another person thinking ahead to make the fitting that much easier.

So this morning we fitted a Barn Owl nest box and 10 Pied Flycatcher and Redstart nest boxes. These were fitted to a farm above Pontypool and I have a very good feeling for a Pair of Barn Owls to take to this nest box. There are Redstarts already present around the farm so they should take to my Specialist boxes next year.

Thank you to the lovely Elaine for allowing us to continue attracting declining species of birds back to Torfaen. Elaine is a very special lady who I have huge respect for.

Watching the barn owl box project feels like tuning into nature’s quiet lessons selecting materials, timing installation with seasons, and learning when to step back. Caring for wildlife asks patience and thoughtful pacing, much like high school level course help evokes steady structure behind tackling new concepts. This blog makes the process feel hopeful and grounded in real‑world stewardship.
