Pleasing to see many of my nest boxes being used leading up to Spring. Mainly Blue and Great tits starting to take moss into the boxes although I don't expect any eggs for at least another 3 weeks.
Last year we managed to ring a few Nuthatch chicks along with my Pied and Redstarts so it was equally as pleasing to see numerous Nuthatch pairs take up nest boxes also. It will be very interesting to find out how many of this years Nuthatch pairs will be from last years ringed chicks.
As I sit in my kitchen I am thrilled to witness a Pair of Robins build a nest in one of my nest boxes and Blue tits taking in moss in another. I love this time of year and cannot wait for breeding season to be in full swing.
