Thanks to the volunteers

I would like to say a huge thank you to Mike from Talywain, Jen from Blaenavon and father and daughter Jamie from Griffithstown and Anita from Little Mill for helping me today.

A great team effort and we managed to clean out roughly 80 nest boxes on challenging terrain. Later in the day and Jamie and his daughter Anita helped replace 6 old nest boxes and fit another 10 new nest boxes respectively. The ten new boxes are on a new bit of land I am trying out and hopefully it will produce either Pied Flycatcher, Spotted Flycatcher or Redstart or even better a combination.

We finished off the day by checking on two Barn Owl nest boxes, one of which produced a healthy brood of four Barn Owl chicks. I was secretly hoping that they may have produced a second clutch such was the success of the first. Sadly no second clutch but at least Anita and Jamie got to see and film the male and female adult birds that were roosting in the nest box.
