45 Tit boxes finished

A freezing cold northerly wind greeted me this morning. Sadly I can only construct nest boxes on my driveway these days due to a full to the rafters garage/workshop. You accumulate numerous tools over the years and attempt to fit them all into a small workshop.

I feel so much better Inow that i have got that off my chest, now I can explain what I have done this morning. Following yesterday's full day constructing and fitting the roofs for the nest boxes this morning was finishing off with metal plates around the entrance hole to protect them from Grey Squirrel and Greater Spotted Woodpecher attacks. The final tedious job is to drill holes in the bottom of the boxes in case of water Ingress.

All these have been constructed to replace old or damaged nest boxes around my Pied Flycatcher and Redstart sites. These should last a good ten years although my nest box sites are mainly upland/mountain environments and the weather is totally different to what it is to where I live in NewInn, Torfaen. All these latest nest boxes have received numerous coats of wood preserver so fingers crossed.
