850 landmark
This morning with my trusted k9 helper I managed to erect my 850th small nest box on Llanover estate land. So there are 855 small nest boxes situated all over Llanover estate in an attempt to attract 3 main species of Migratory birds. Redstart, Pied Flycatcher and the elusive Spotted Flycatcher are where all my efforts go towards my woodland bird species.
Obviously my nest boxes attract 100's of Blue, Great and Coal tit with Nuthatch, Wren and Robin the main other species. As most of you are aware I have a very successful string of 57 Barn Owl boxes which have produced record numbers of Owlets this year. On Llanover estate alone 19 Owlets fledged successfully which is pretty amazing.
