Good news and bad news

My Pied Flycatchers have hatched in perfect conditions for Flies/Caterpillas/insects and Spiders. I've watched the adult birds literally hunting for food right outside the nest boxes. Hopefully this dry period will last and I will be confident of good size broods. Pied Flycatchers and Redstarts usually lay eight eggs so fingers crossed.

Sadly I've lost 1 clutch of eggs, unfortunately the farmers cattle have knocked several nest boxes off the trees. It had to be one with eggs in although it does look like the female has completed building a late nest in a nearby nest box. No eggs yet but it will be interesting to see what happens.

I've uploaded a small video on my YouTube channel if you are interested.
