Huge numbers of Pied

This morning I was pleasantly surprised at how many male and female Pied Flycatchers had returned to my nest box sites this morning. These little birds migrate from the equatorial range of Africa to raise a brood of chicks before returning back to Africa before Autumn sets in.

I've never witnessed so many pairs like this before so I am hoping to smash last years record of 40 nesting pairs. All the signs are very positive with numerous male and females checking on my nest boxes to see if that particular nest box suits them.

Another huge positive was numerous Redstart pairs pairing up ready for breeding season. Once again I can't remember witnessing so many pairs before now so it is all very encouraging.
